Apple Acquires Passif Semiconductor

Apple has reportedly acquired Passif Semiconductor who specializes in low-power communication chips with tiny footprints, reports AllThingsD.
Apple spokeswoman Amy Bessette confirmed the deal with the company’s standard statement on small acquisitions: “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.”
It's speculated that Apple could use the company's technology in wearable devices such as an iWatch.
Apple has acquired several companies of late including Locationary and HopStop.
