Apple to Hold 'Enormous' iPhone Upgrade Event Beginning May 8th?

Apple is planning to hold an 'enormous' iPhone upgrade event this week to boost sales, according to 9to5Mac. The event is set to begin on May 8th, says their source. Apple will contact eligible users to bring their older iPhone in to update to an iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s.

This program blends nicely with Apple’s Apple Store-based iPhone hardware trade-in program, which allows customers to turn-in older iPhone models to purchase a new model at a discounted price. Apple, in recent weeks, has increased the buyback prices for iPhones in its trade-in-program, according to a source. This event will be held in multiple states across the United States, and Apple is said to be preparing for an influx of visitors to its stores on the levels of traffic driven to stores for new product debuts.

Apple will reportedly brief retail store managers on the initiative tomorrow. The company is also readying various other new marketing and sales initiatives to improve iPhone sales at retail stores.

This is said to be one of the first significant sales events for Apple's retail stores besides the yearly iPhone launch event.

We'll let you know when we have more details...

Apple is not here for charity ... They want to their desired numbers ... So it's your call if u wanna buy the 5S or the 5C ... They are not forcing you to buy one

The idea is to get everyone to the newer model of phone so they can reduce support for outdated models. Since there are people who DON'T upgrade every year, they figure it's better to get them to upgrade to a slightly more modern phone rather than waiting for them to buy a completely new phone.

What is the strategy behind this if this is true? Going to Apple Store to get an upgrade of your phone, you will most likely sign up a 2 year contract, then once the iPhone 6 releases around Sep or whatever in this year, you will be stuck! otherwise you will have to bring out some cash out of your pocket.

Apple knows their costumer. they are easy to please. but of course it will still cost you,Apple has increased the buyback prices for iPhones in its trade-in-program. They are just trying to get rid off of the overstock. It's so apple.

have Iphone 4s , Iphone 56 and a mini ipad and without a jailbreak is like i don't have nothing. I still have my iphone 4s jailbreak. If i see any improvement on iphone 6 then I will wait for the 6s because always comes with better functions!

I would wait for iPhone 6 just to see if it is worth it to upgrade, i have small hands and do not like big phones, so if it is uncomfortable i will upgrade my iPhone 5 to 5s. Upgrading now for me is early, but if Apple give me exchange for free from 5 to 5s i would accept it.

I see lots of 5c and 5s and I own a 5s. Who else doesn't want small screen? In fact since when did every last human being want a big ass phone. I can do everything on my 4" but for me tablets is what bigger screen is for.
