iH8sn0w has noted that the p0sixspwn standalone utility for Mac OS X and Windows has been updated to version 1.0.8. The latest version brings support for iOS 6.1.6 for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4th Generation. In addition, it brings crash fixes on iTunes 11.1+
Updated the *standalone* p0sixspwn to v1.0.8. Supports 3GS+ipt4 on iOS 6.1.6. Fixes iTunes 11.1+ crashes.
P0sixspwn can jailbreak iOS 6.1.3, 6.1.4, 6.1.5 and now 6.1.6 devices. There is also an untether package available on Cydia for those currently on 6.1.x but have a tethered jailbreak.
I have an Iphone 3gs 6.1.6 firmware when i load the P0sixspwn using Macbook pro and it recognizes the phone before pressing the Jailbreak Then it always crashes i performed the trouble shoot steps removing Passcode lock ,Auto Lock is on Never , itunes lock off and still can't perform before Crash
i have an ipod v 6.1.6 and when i press jailbreak in posixspwn my ipod reboots but when it says performing magic it stops can you help.

I have other iOS devices I don't want to mess with, but will this modify my copy of iTunes? If so, will I still be able to use my other devices without problems?

Been trying to do this all day on my iphone 3gs, but every time I try, p0sixspwn declares it can't do anything without itunes 9 or higher. I have the newest one, and i even tried getting itunes 9 itself with no success.
i encountered same problem before,so i try to downgrade my itunes version from 12 to 11 or 10 and no errors appeared again.but my problem now is P0sixspwn always crashed in the middle jailbreak processing and i don't know how to fix it

Could you please explain to me how can I jailbreak my iPhone 3GS that I am already tried to jailbreak it before by redsn0w but it's not working & unfortunately I make a full resetting from the device & now I doesn't know what I must do to can use my device again.

I am currently using iPhone 3GS with iOS 6.1.6. But I can't run any customized apps like skype, viber, facebook or something else! Now my question is, can reinstall iOS 6.1.6 with jailbreak?
If the answer is yes- please tell me the whole process.
If anyone has p0sixspwn-v1.0.8-win not responding just after "Doing Magic" appears, I had this on several machines running XP/WIN7 with a 3GS & 6.1.6. The common thing was they all had iTunes 11.1.3.8 installed. On a WIN7 machine with iTunes 11.4.0.18 all was fine.
possible to rejailbreak? using 1.0x? Instead of Semirestore? Seems I am having issues with the weather app and when using the weatherapp fix and weathericon6 for the temp in the statusbar it breaks.

Well, that depends; if your 3GS Serial Numbers (check ONLY 3rd, 4th, 5th digit numbers) were less than 132. Then it's safe to go to 06.15 iPad Baseband, then immediately downgrade to 05.13 Baseband for Ultrasn0w to work - thus will unlock your iPhone to any GSM Network. Use Redsn0w (0.9.15b3) from the Dev Team.
i'm currently on ios 5.1.1 with ipad baseband (6.15.00), old bootrom.
how do i upgrade to 6.1.6 right now???
can i restore directly to 6.1.6 using itunes or do i need to build a custom firmware???
Please follow steps by numbers! OK, the best way to do this is FIRST(1) - downgrade your baseband to 05.13 using older Redsn0w 09.14b2 (because you have an older iOS 5.1.1). Do not interrupt until it's finished and your iPhone had fully rebooted (showing charging/ battery lightning top-icon). Now check the baseband and confirmed that it's 05.13.> (2)Check your iTunes Version on PC (should be at least 11.1.3) to be able to do Official iTunes iPhone RESTORE for iOS 6.1.6 (3GS) - TO AVOID ANY ERRORS AT ALL (check your www.gs.apple.com - has to be..this place is just a placeholder..Apple...) Note: If you have an older itunes 10 - you have to upgrade to higher version or upgrade 11.1 or to the newest 11.2.2 > (3) If you had confirmed your PC iTunes Version, IMPORTANT-REMOVE all Passwords, sign-out iCloud, and all iTunes ID, etc.>(4)Then Back-up you Device / then Rename this iPhone again (ex. My old iPhone 5.1.1) then do Back-up again..this is significant so you would know the old-back-up (make note of time/date). >(5) (put an old or inactive ATT or the original carrier sim) and DO a Restore in iTunes only (never use erase and reset from the iPhone). >(6) Be Patient and once done - activate in iTunes (Start using iPhone) NOTE: Set up as New should always be selected. NOW you have a fresh clean iPhone and ready for the jailbreak...Now FIRST download the 3GS ipsw 6.0 [iPhone2,1_6.010A403_Restore] - important for the jailbreak/ and put this ipsw on your desktop (for easy access)
(7) Use Redsn0w (0.9.15b3) - always run as Administrator; in RS window choose Extras > Select ipsw > pre-select 6.0 from desktop >window prompt >hit NO for oldboot room or YES for newbootroom 3GS > then hit Back > hit Jailbreak > Choose and Check ONLY Install iPad Baseband (Do not check install Cydia - this could wait)> then will prompt to turn-off iPhone to start DFU. Jailbreak starts. WAIT until it finishes. Check your baseband 06.15.
REPEAT (7) all the steps ***see note below about ipsw 6.0*** but check only Downgrade Baseband> WAIT until it finishes. Check your baseband 05.13.
REPEAT again (7) all the steps ***don't forget pre-select 6.0***,now CHOOSE INSTALL (check) CYDIA ONLY.
[***Important this step of PRE-SELECTING 6.0 ipsw has to be done EVERYTIME (for Redsn0w to recognize your firmware which 6.1.6) until you have completed this untethered jailbreak.***]
(8) When iphone had been Jailbroken, connect or join wi-fi and open Cydia, choose User, wait..changes prompt, choose install (4) essential upgrades ONLY /do not choose complete (8) upgrade yet!..wait, (IF you have a new bootroom, please do this step first> tap Search, type -p0sixpwn (to install untethered-drama free tweak..) install. (9) Then still on Cydia, tap Manage (below), Sources, choose Dev Team - to install ultrasn0w...wait and watch until reboot device appears on screen **BUT REBOOT only by holding Top Button to Slide to Power-off. (do not hit reboot on touchscreen prompt - most of the time this makes the iPhone hangs and freezes!) Start iPhone by holding the same top (power on-off) button, wait until it's fully ON, then changed sim and wait for another carriers network to appear.
(10)Go to Cydia, tap Changes (below), and install other 4 (curses,etc..)..
(11)Open itunes - rename your iPhone (maybe.. iPhone 3GS Fresh Jailbreak01 - then back-up)..(12) Then sync your iPhone to your Library for all infos, or do a restore from Back-up -choose "My old iPhone 5.1.1" (***not recommended it you had many pirated apps and tweaks from the old jailbreak/ files, etc.***)

thanks AEB, before starting your detailed guide i have a few questions:
1. in the Redsn0w baseband downgrade process, do i have to select the stock 5.1.1 ipsw or the custom one (which i built with sn0wbreeze and is currently running on my device)???
2. will my data be deleted after the BB downgrade process???
3. how do i identify my original carrier??? (model MC133B)
4. After successfully restoring to 6.1.6, Can i use the latest version of P0sixspwn Jailbreak Tool instead of Redsn0w?
OK, Answers 2 your (Q1) U must have official 3GS ipsw [iPhone2,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore.ipsw] make this handy and put it on your desktop FIRST, when downgrading your 06.15 Baseband, you have select the "stock" 5.1.1 ipsw (please see Tutorials here /iClarified - search/type: How to Downgrade Your iPhone 3GS, 3G Baseband for Unlock (Windows)..follow steps. NOTE: Do this first before you Restore to iTunes to 6.1.6 - because your baseband has to be 05.13. (Official iTunes Restore DO NOT RECOGNIZE 06.15 Baseband (errors will occur!)..U won't need your Custom Sn0wbreeze ipsw because your upgrading the firmware to 6.1.6( only use this if you ONLY want to go back to clean 5.1.1) >(Q2) No DATA will be deleted on the downgrade baseband process / Data are deleted ONLY if you do an Official Restore in iTunes (thus it prompts you: Erase and Reset Factory settings!) > (Q3) (your Model suggests that your iPhone 3GS from U.K. (note sure of several Carriers > www.iphonefrom.xxx) > (Q4) For Jailbreaking iPhone 4 (6.1.3 /6.1.6) yes I would use latest p0sixpwn TOOL. BUT I'd use Redsn0w all the time for 3GS because of the (2 different) bootroom version (NEW-tethered / OLD-untethered). Important: NOTE: For NEW bootroom 3GS - you ALWAYS NEED Redsn0w and (choose) Just Boot from Extras - AFTER the last phase/steps of the jailbreak- (check install Cydia). CYDIA ICON WOULD ONLY appear on YOUR iPhone after sucessfully doing this. (Remember to always manually pre-select 6.0 before you check Just Boot and proceed to DFU...Best of Luck, and Your welcome as well! Cheers!
i did the BB downgrade till the end but after rebooting my iPhone says searching... and Modem part is BLANK!!! No wifi! , No Bluetooth!

OK David, ARE YOU SURE you have an OLD-BOOTROOM 3GS? Please verify your Serial Number: first 5-digit or letters ONLY? (example: Serial Number: 88928xxxxxxx (most likely an old-bootroom) > Next please Check your baseband again (if still 06.15) try to flash-downgrade baseband AGAIN using older Redsn0w (09.14b2) - you have try several times until you get 05.13. STEPS - on Redsn0w you have to identify bootroom correctly. Run RS - go to Extra -pre-select 5.1.5 (apple (stock) not custom; hit back - Jaibreak -wait - uncheck everything but downgrade-baseband - turn-off iPhone to start DFU - wait until its finished (upto 12+ min/ DO NOT INTERRUPT) NOTE: even if the iPhone shuts-off,or appears not responding just be patient, wait for the Apple Logo and it will automatically reboot! (If after 15 min, iPhone is black-screen - just push home-button once to check if it's done) > Now check your baseband - if 05.13 -
THEN you'll be ready for iTunes Official Restore (6.1.6). Remember, remove all passwords lock on the iphone > do a Back-up > Rename iPhone > do a back-up again> then Restore completely in iTunes...
AEB my 3gs crashes lately. the screen goes blank with black vertical lines on it! it usually crashes at about 40-50% of battery and i have to plug it to AC power to get out of this status. any clue what it might be????
OK, several factors about the crashes; first check your Serial Number: to determine how old is your 3GS (the original battery life). Manufacture date of an iPhone 3G or 3GS (3rd - 5th digit - indicate the year (3) and 4&5 (number of week) > EX. SN 87022xxxxxx - meaning (Manufactured on 201"0" -"22"nd week)
If 3rd digit is 9(2009), if 0(2010), if 1(2011)...Presently, its mid 2014, so your original battery (4+ years old) - so it's about time to replace. (Note: 3GS and 3G only- iPhone batteries are not the same); best to just pay a shop to do it..much faster and not so expensive - about $15 - $20 (US) / parts and labor - that's it.
NOW, also 1 factor would be moisture or water-damage (shown LCD sceen lines, etc.); as this primarily affects back-light problems/ very dim LCD, or no light at all. ...Best of luck DAVID..but also consider, just maybe it's time to upgrade to iPhone 4 or 4S (make sure it's Factory Unlocked - always check the IMEI: www.iphoneimei.info) ...Cheers!
Dear AEB, thanks again for your helpful guidance. I've decided to buy a new phone but I'm not quite sure what to choose. I'd be happy if you guide me to select the best phone with the following general specs: 1) 4.7-5 inch screen 2) good camera(5 and up) 3) capable of running the latest apps and games 4) good software update support 5) reasonable price!.
I personally heard that Nexus4, Huawei p6, XperiaZ and TX,... are decent phones. Looking forward for your advice
OK David - if you're considering the RE-SALE value, then stick with iPhone (4S or 5). iPhone 4 (cheaper) is ok too; but you only get 3G speed and a bit-slow on iOS 7.
Believe me, even now, I'm still able to sell a few 3GS (jailbreak unlocked) - average price $80 - $120 (32gb -White cosmetically great condition!)
HTC One "mini" is also a good-replacement if you prefer an Android over iOS. Decent and averagely-priced for used-ones (since I believe the mini2 should be coming-out very soon. Also, it's not too expensive to factory unlock an HTC, compared to any iPhone 4-5S or Samsung Galaxy S(3/4/5) or Galaxy Note (2 or 3).
HTC One M7 or M8/newer are also really good choices, but still a bit pricey.
Nexus or LG or Nokias are decent too; but I'm not used to them. Check out reviews or forums if you need further infos.
For me, an iPhone 5 / 5c or 5S (Verizon only) would be a good-choice because these come GSM-factory unlocked /provided that their ESN/IMEID is clean and clear for activation. Note: These VERIZON iPhones 5+ ("not a 4S Verizon") would recognize any GSM-simcard globally, but the data-internet may vary from 3G, 4G or LTE capabilties, depending on what country/ where you would like to use them into. (Do not buy AT&T or T-Mobile, unless you intend to use the iPhone in the US - because it's expensive to get them unlocked.)
