iPhone 7 May Be In Short Supply at Launch [Report]

Posted August 26, 2016 at 4:26pm by iClarified
The iPhone 7 may be in short supply at launch due to problems with faulty components, according to a new report from Nikkei.

"If Apple sticks to its launch schedule from last year, there may not be enough supply at the beginning, as some suppliers are still trying to fix low yield rates of their components," an industry source familiar with the issue said.

Jeff Pu, an analyst at Yuanta Investment Consulting, also cites concerns with supply. He cut forecasts for production down from 120 million to 114 million in the July-December period due to defects with the waterproof speaker and dual-lens camera module.

"We estimate total iPhone 7 builds to be 74 (million) in 2H16F, compared to 84 (million) for iPhone 6s in 2H15. Together with pricing pressure, we expect most Apple food chain suppliers to see (year-on-year) revenue decline for the rest of the year," Pu wrote.

Apple is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 7 on September 7th with pre-orders going live on September 9th. The device will likely be released in stores on September 16th.

The what crap? We still have no idea what the phone will feature in order for you to claim it to be a marketing ploy to begin with!

The thing they do every year has nothing to do with the particulars of the phone. Only that they always claim to be in short supply at launch..as if a company like Apple couldn't anticipate demand or keep up with manufacturing. That's the load of crap I'm talking about. Please don't reply.

I am praying Apple releases that dark blue color to their iPhone line up. I want to step up from the 4.7 to the 5.5 for games, videos, and taking photos. I really hope Apple stuns us with the internals of the iPhone 7.

On iDropnews.com there are articles reffering to Tim mentioning long awaited features, and what can go wrong after what we got in the 6?

F--k what you think I say headphone jack abolished. Not to mention ZDnet did mention headphone jacks will be obselete in the next decade and Watchmojo mentioned wires will be obselete in the future. It goes to show how everything is becoming wireless since phones. Once something is completely eliminated on a certain Apple product, it never returns. To prove it, check out the Apple I/O death chart.

I think it makes sense because it compromises how many want to stay on the 6s or lower because of the headphone jack while there can be enough to upgrade or wait to win one out of Prize Vault machines. I can see now why there isn't a Pro model though.

I don't really care about the headphone jack since I hardly ever use it. And I'm sure they are going to supply either lightning earbuds or an adapter or at least it will be available in stores. I don't see it as a big deal.
