Facebook App Gets Weather Forecasts

Facebook has added the ability to view weather forecasts in its mobile apps and online. A new Weather section can be found in the company's iOS app and Facebook will now offer an option to set notifications for receiving weather reports.

The Weather section defaults to your current location but you can change that by clicking the Settings button. Like other apps you can view temperature forecasts hourly and choose between Fahrenheit or Celsius. Unfortunately, you can't swipe between multiple locations just yet.

Weather data is provided by Weather.com and includes highs, lows and general conditions. Clicking a 'See more weather info' button will take you to Weather.com for more details.

“We are doing this because our goal is to develop products that connect people to the things they care about most and create moments of joy in people’s day, like simply telling you that it’s going to rain later,” a spokesperson told TechCrunch.

You can download Facebook from the App Store for free.
