Sonos May Unveil New Home Theater Speaker With Alexa at June 6th Event

Sonos has invited members of the press to a June 6th event where it is expected to unveil a new home theater speaker with Alexa, reports The Verge.

The event's invite shows a coffee table with many different home theater remotes and the message, "You're better than this."

Notably, Sonos recently registered a new home theater speaker with the FCC, possibly a successor to the Playbar or Playbase. The filing reveals that the speaker has HDMI connectivity and microphones for voice control.


Considering the Sonos One smart speaker already features Alexa, it's likely that Sonos is planning to expand Alexa integration to its other speakers. The company is also planning to add Google Assistant and AirPlay 2 support.
