Apple to Use OLED Displays for All Three 2019 iPhones?

Apple is planning to switch to OLED displays next year for its three new iPhone models, reports ETNews.

This year, Apple is expected to use OLED for two of its new models (5.8-inch and 6.5-inch); however, the rumored 6.1-inch model is said to feature an LCD display.

"Apple recently started planning the iPhone model in 2019 and decided to adopt OLED in all three types," said an official from Apple who said, "The OLED used in the iPhone X (TEN) is a low temperature polysilicon (LTPS) LCD Quality, performance, and so on. "


Another official said, "Apple has decided to put all the OLED on the new iPhone model in 2019."

A complete switch to OLED would be beneficial to Samsung who currently provides all the OLED panels for the iPhone X. It's likely that LG would get added as a supplier as well.

Samsung Display, a sole provider of OLED panels, is expected to see significant earnings improvement. If the volume of supply and demand increases, LG Display is likely to be officially selected as a supplier by the nature of Apple, which does not prefer a single vendor system. Leading parts and materials makers of OLED materials, including RF printed circuit boards (RFPCB), will also receive growth opportunities.
