Apple has updated its list of vintage and obsolete products to include the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 now joins the iPhone 3GS (8GB), iPhone 4 CDMA (8GB), as 'vintage' in the United States but is considered obsolete in the rest of the world.

Vintage products are those that have not been manufactured for more than 5 and less than 7 years ago. Apple has discontinued hardware service for vintage iPhones with the exception of devices in the state of California.

Obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than 7 years ago. All Apple Retail Stores and the Canadian, European, Latin American, and Asia-Pacific operating regions follow the U.S. product list, but make no distinction between vintage and obsolete.

I'll predict my iPhone 5s will be obselete once we get iOS that requires iPhones with 2GB ram and eventually 1gb ram on iPhones will no longer be just another few years old product, but added to the lineup of vintage. I'm still using it to this day and it still is holding up.

I feel like I just aged more reading this. I bought an iPhone 5 when they were brand new after original launch (I’ve had iPhones since the 3G was still relevant, but the 5 still seems newish to me)
