Ember Launches Larger 14oz Temperature Control Mug

Ember has announced the launch of a larger 14oz Temperature Control Mug. Previously, the ceramic mug was only available in a 10oz size which many customers found too small.

The newest member of the Ember lineup is our largest mug yet. We listened to our customers and wanted to give them more of what they love - their favorite drink at the perfect temperature.

The Ember mug works with the Ember app on your iPhone, letting you set the precise drinking temperature you prefer. Ember will maintain that temperature for about an hour. The mug automatically wake up when a hot beverage is poured in and remembers your last set temperature.

You can purchase the new Ember 14oz mug in black from Ember.com or Apple.com. The white version is currently listed as unavailable.

The discount users got from purchasing directly from Ember is gone. Now you pay the same price at Apple, Amazon, Starbucks AND Ember.

Ember announced this a while ago. While I’ve purchased several of these, and replaced them several times already, the numbers are off. While I’m fine paying $79 for a 10oz mug I’ll use every day and which will keep my coffee hot for hours at a time, I have a harder justifying $129 for 14oz. The 10oz size works since can drink indefinitely, there’s little to be gained by the extra 4 ounces. What’s more, 14oz. is just an odd size. Why not 16? I’d gladly switch for $100, possibly even for $120, but the cost/benefit per ounce just doesn’t work out. For an extra $50, you’d think they’d at least add their ‘health’ interface to monitor you caffeine consumption.
