Alleged Image of New 16-inch MacBook Pro Leaked

Posted November 2, 2019 at 4:22am by iClarified
An image of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro has allegedly been leaked to MacRumors. As rumored, the image reveals a MacBook with slimmer bezels, a standalone Touch ID key, and a physical Escape key.

While all three of those features line up with other images of the 16-inch MacBook Pro uncovered in macOS Catalina 10.15.1, we cannot confirm if this latest image is legitimate. It certainly looks believable at face value, but we cannot find the file in any recent macOS Catalina builds and it could be photoshopped.

The image, which shows Touch ID authentication, is very similar to the one leaked to MacRumors in 2016. That one turned out to be legitimate.

The source claims the new MacBook Pro will have AMD Radeon RX 5300M or 5500M graphics. Corroborating this is a "Radeon RX 5500/5500M" string found in macOS Catalina 10.15.1 by Steve Moser.

The image appears to match up with an icon of the new MacBook Pro found in macOS Catalina 10.15.1 beta and an image of the notebook's Touch Bar and keyboard found in macOS Catalina 10.15.1.

Recent reports have claimed that Apple will receive volume shipments of the 16-inch MacBook Pro this quarter but it's unclear when the company plans to launch the device.

UPDATE:
The "Touch ID to pay Apple" text in the Touch Bar while on a North Face site suggests this image may be photoshopped.

The site that this image was leaked to, MacRumors, has confirmed that this is a bogus claimed fabricated in Photoshop, by identifying select images used to compile it. Continuing to highlight this absurd and baseless ‘anonymous’ claim only damages iClarifies’s credibility as a reputable new outlet. This article should be deleted to demonstrate that iClarified is NOT simply another Apple rumor mill.
