Apple is Offering Free Genetic Testing to Silicon Valley Employees

Apple has teamed up with Color Genomics to offer free genetic testing to its employees in Silicon Valley, reports CNBC.

Apple, which recently set up dedicated health clinics known as “AC Wellness” for employees and their dependents near its headquarters, has been working with Color for several months, according to several people with direct knowledge of the discussions. The people requested anonymity because they were not authorized to publicize the deal on their companies’ behalf.

The program is part of an effort to shift health care from reactive to proactive. If a test reveals future health risks, patients can take preventative action to reduce the likelihood of getting a disease.


It's also possible that by offering cutting-edge medical treatments, AC Wellness will help Apple recruit and retain top talent. Medical experts also believe that AC Wellness could be a way for Apple to quietly test new products or ideas without having them leak.
