New 2020 iPad Pro Review Roundup [Video]

Apple has lifted the embargo on reviews of the new 2020 iPad Pro. Here's a roundup of reviews from around the web.

The next generation iPad Pro features an A12Z Bionic chip, ultra wide camera, studio-quality mics, and a breakthrough LiDAR Scanner. More details here.

You can purchase the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro in silver and space gray finishes. There are four storage configurations: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Prices start at $799 for the 11-inch and $999 for the 12.9-inch.

Check out the reviews below!

The Verge:
I started this review by talking about the tension between iPads. The core of that tension is that for most people, the iPad Pro is overkill. Unless you’re quite sure what you are going to do with these cameras, that LIDAR, or the faster processor, chances are you’d be equally served by the much-less expensive iPad Air — or even the base iPad. Neither of those iPads is as nice from a hardware perspective. But if you don’t need the extra power, saving hundreds of dollars is also nice.

CNET:
This is the best iPad, but for its price it better be. It's also closer to being my One Machine. But at this moment, based on what I've experienced, I love working on it... but I'll still be using a laptop, too.

TechCrunch:
It’s insane to have a multi-modal machine that can take typing, swiping and sketching as inputs and has robust support for every major piece of business software on the planet — and that always works, is always fast and is built like an Italian racing car. Who can argue with that?

The iPad Pro refresh is impressive. But does it answer the question?

CNBC:
If you’re thinking about an iPad Pro and have more than $1,000 to spend, here’s what I think you should do: get the $799 11-inch iPad Pro instead of the bigger, 12.9-inch model (which I love, it’s just too big for me) and save some money. Then take the money you’re saving and get the Magic Keyboard when it launches. You’ll have a powerful tablet that should be able to do pretty much everything a laptop can, so long as all of your work apps are supported on the iPad. All in, you’re looking at around $1,100 for the new keyboard with built-in trackpad and the 11-inch iPad Pro with 128 GB of storage.

So, now, some 18 months later, we’re back to evolution — a wider processor, a second, wider camera, an intriguing new LiDAR scanner, and, coming this May, a full-on new laptop mode thanks to a new, scissor-switch and trackpad powered Magic Keyboard.

If you’ve been thinking about getting an iPad Pro, or if you’ve been using one of the first- or second-generation iPad Pro models, this product was made for you. But if you’re using a 2018 iPad Pro, you can give this iPad a pass. The difference between your 2018 model and today’s 2020 version are relatively minor, so unless you care about AR or having an ultrawide camera, you can hang tight for the next generation of iPad Pro.
