Geohot Says iPhone OS 3.1.3 Jailbreak Is Easy

Geohot Says iPhone OS 3.1.3 Jailbreak Is Easy

Posted February 4, 2010 at 11:51pm by iClarified
Geohot has tweeted saying that the jailbreak is easy but only helps those dumb enough to upgrade.

I hear rumors going around that the 3.1.3 jailbreak is hard. It isn't. But the only people it helps are those dumb enough to upgrade. Sorry.

These comments indicate that it's unlikely the BlackRa1n jailbreak will be upgraded to support the new firmware.

iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G users - please be very careful you do not upgrade. Most other users can still jailbreak using RedSn0w. See here for more information.

Im running 3.1.3 jailbroken and tethered via redsn0w 0.9.3 and MyWi All you have to do is use the 3.1.2 ipsw when prompted by redsn0w. first try I got a small error on the PC side. Second try it went through! Use cydia to get MyWi as an app and bam thethered!

he says its easy but wont release it... its like my 4yr old saying his 12yr olds maths homework is easy, but cant show he can actually do it,... its hearsay, and all GEOs word, no proof at all.

What if I buy my iphone is preinstall with FW 3.1.3. Than I`m stuck till some kind soul can JB it. Pls Geohot or Devteam, you all have to think about the next batch of iphone users with FW preinstall with 3.1.3. (Geohot has tweeted saying that the jailbreak is easy but only helps those dumb enough to upgrade. I hear rumors going around that the 3.1.3 jailbreak is hard. It isn't. I don't doubt George is an epitome of the unlocking/jalbreaking community but in this instance, he's totally mocking all those that updated to 3.1.3 and were caught with their pants down. I agree that he gives out his work away for free but there's also a paypal link to a couple of his posts. Of course, it's up to an individual to hit the donate button but it's there unlike the Dev Team.

I just have to put in my 2 cents about 3.1.3. This is the first restore from itunes that went ok on my ipone I am happy with it it works beter than ever and the speed is so fast now i still so surprised also my battery now can go for 2 full days of use instead of a 5 hours use before THUMBS UP FOR 3.1.3

I have to agree with Geo. Don't get me wrong, he comes across as cocky but this update is pure BS from apple. If a new exploit is exposed well that might be one less exposed exploit available for 4.0. The other thing is, I have jailbroken dozens of phones and touches. I send a page full of useful links to every person I jailbreak for. Many don't take the time to look at a single reference. I tell them never update the firmware. 7 already updated. The forums are full of help and the iPhone web sites are full of advice. The community has made great advances spreading jb to the masses but some of the masses don't want to take on second to stay informed. I think Geo's comments are aimed that audience. The only think I want to know, has anyone had success rejailbreaking with 3.1.2 since apple stoppped signing and having to sign thru Saurik?

Apple states the fix only corrects the battery meter. But if the battery life improved hats good but surely not worth it to me to upgrade. Is it snappier too?

what's with all the spam about 3.1.3 being great? someone has way too much time. it's a minor update like 3.0.1 was People need to just stay where they are and when a larger update comes then we'll see jailbreaks for that.

Mvran
Mvran - February 5, 2010 at 2:37am
Come on people, He released blackra1n for free for everybody to use and made it realy easy too. If he reccomends not to upgrade then dont. I know i will not. Ill wait for the next big update, btw the 3.1.3 update has only a few minor bug fixes so it really isnt a problem to skip.

"if its soo easy y dosnt he just release it?...mayb hes full of him self" You're probably one of those people who did upgrade to 3.1.3. The biggest reason for not releasing the method is that it is a minor update - not worth releasing a jailbreak that will be patched again anyway when Apple releases iPhone 4.0. Which would you prefer, a jailbreak for this minor 3.1.3 upgrade, or making it available for 4.0? Note, fewer and fewer exploits exist for jailbreakers out there. It is important that they save the exploits from needless patches.

I didn't update it, and i am really thankful that he releases the hacking software for free and the fact he has created it...but y r u gonna put a statement out being cocky with no proof of it and tell ppl they dont need it...who is he 2 decide if we dont need it? also i think hes full of shit about the ps3...i wanna c a video of him playing homebrew on it...but once again dont get me wrong i am truly thankful of the stuff hes done but lately i think hes full of shit and if hes gonna make claims of hacking the ps3 and able to iphone software he dosnt wanna release atleast make videos so i know hes just not being a liar

There's no reason to upgrade. Period. You see any new features in 3.1.3? Answer: NO. Then why upgrade? If I were able to figure stuff out like GeoHot does, I would say the same thing. It's ridiculous that the same people who benefit from his intelligence and hard work are the same who are so quick to criticize him for his words. Ridiculous. I'll wait until iPhone OS 4.0 before I do anything. My iPhone works great, I've got every feature I need working perfectly, so I don't care about a miniscule update.

to whom does Geohot owe anything to anyway??!!! He doesn't owe anyone another update just to keep in sync with Apple's defensive moves. If he does so then that is entirely up to him or the DevTeam for that matter. To think that those of Us smart enough to read and heed to the Warnings all over the net and the Cydia apps about NOT upGRADING as yet, is beyond belief. Where do these people come from?? If you are SOOL ( Surely Out Of Luck ) then that is that !! PErioD. We, myself included, have been there, DONE THAT!! Upgraded on iTunes ( by mistake) only to suffer the long awaited updates to be able to re-JBreak again. Those who are just learning all this , please learn to accept WISDOM from those that have gone before YOU> "Amen and all that Jazzzzzzzz......"
