Apple is planning to boost Chinese production of its new iPad and Apple Watch Series 6, according to a DigiTimes report.

The site says Luxshare Precision Industry is a secondary supplier for the Apple Watch Series 6 and BYD is a supplier for the new Wi-Fi iPad.

Foxconn Technology Group (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Compal Electronics are the main suppliers for the new Apple Watch and iPads at the moment, but based on Chinese makers' production quality, prices and extent of cooperation, the US-based brand is likely to shift more orders to Luxshare and BYD, the sources said.

Apple is reportedly seeking to have China's domestic demand fulfilled by Chinese suppliers while relying more heavily on Taiwanese producers for other markets.

The Apple Watch Series 6 is now available starting at $399. You can also get the Apple Watch SE starting at $279 and the iPad 8 starting at $329.
