Toyota has announced support for Apple Maps EV Routing, allowing drivers of its battery electric vehicles to integrate their car's real-time data directly with Apple Maps through CarPlay, enhancing navigation for electric vehicle owners.
The feature lets Apple Maps use real-time vehicle data to plan efficient routes that include compatible charging stops. The system accounts for factors like the battery's current state of charge and elevation changes along the way.
According to the announcement, the capability is available for all 2023 and newer Toyota BEVs equipped with Toyota Audio Multimedia. The feature debuts prominently with the launch of the 2026 Toyota bZ, arriving at dealers this month.
The move comes as other automakers reconsider their relationship with Apple's platform. General Motors, for instance, recently confirmed it plans to phase out Apple CarPlay entirely from its future gasoline-powered vehicles, extending a policy that was previously limited to its electric models.
Toyota's announcement was part of a broader update for its BEV ecosystem, which also includes access to the Tesla Supercharger Network and new Plug & Charge capabilities for the 2026 bZ.
