Do a search on "Thinkpad 2014 X1 Carbon" (or https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/New-2014-X1-Carbon-owner-very-unhappy/td-p/1397621) and you'll know how "useful" this touch bar was. Lenovo learned their lesson and dumped the touch bar the next year. Apparently Apple wants to learn the same lesson 2 years later.

Apple is not Lenovo, when Apple implements a new technology it means they mastered it, Apple been working on Touch ID when they acquired AuThentec since 4/5 years ago till they mastered it and released it to the public and it worked out great. HP and others tried to use a touch ID technology but it failed big but worked out great for Apple so the touch bar in Macs will be great too unlike Lenovo.
