This was a huge mistake by Strava! By removing tethering you've forced cyclists to either settle for the SEVERELY limited amount of data one can capture from the Apple Watch alone - or the more robust and extended capturing ability of the iPhone app without the ability to use the watch to quickly/easily monitor speed, distance, heart-rate, etc. on-the-fly. Not to mention the fact that the GPS on the Watch is less accurate and slower. There's also the fact that the battery on the Apple Watch doesn't last nearly as long as the battery on the iPhone when capturing fitness activities. With the Apple Watch alone, cyclists cannot capture data from their power meters, speed & cadence sensors, their more-accurate chest strap HRMs, etc., etc., etc. - you know, the things that are *actually* important and critical for cyclists! Why did it have to be either-or? Couldn't Strava have made it a choice? Let me choose to tether or not. A lot of paying 'premium' Strava customers (including myself) are extremely frustrated with this! Epic FAIL on Strava's part!
