Apple will reportedly start selling the iPhone 5 unlocked through its U.S. online store tonight, according to 9to5Mac.
Apple will begin selling an unlocked version of its iPhone 5 through its online store as soon as 9 PM tonight, according to our retail sources. The unlocked iPhone 5 price range will likely be $649, $749, and $849 depending on a choice of either 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage.
Retail stores are also said to begin selling the unlocked device soon. The unlocked models have begun arriving at stores but the start date for sales is not yet known.

People who travel internationally require an unlocked iPhone. gsmnation.com has some of the cheapest prices around for unlocked phones. I bought one from them while I was in Kuwait, and now am in Afghanistan and my iPhone works here with the local phone company, as well. Aside from being able to use it on any provider in the US, travelers require an unlocked phone.

Most who probably buy an unlocked model do so because the travel outside the US and want to be able yo use a local SIM cheap for where they are at rather than pay sky high Int Roaming, and data rates through At&T. At&T won't unlock an iphone that is on contract

Screw ATT - November 29, 2012 at 8:07pm
So I can get ripped off by them? You people don't realize how much you actually pay for those phones. I can buy a new phone and after a year it's paid off as opposed to you when you've actually paid twice as much for the phone over time because of the data and voice plans.

That makes sense but you are still paying for service aren't you? Unless you are using it an Ipod. Which would be stupid since you just paid $649 for it. Think about it. In the end you pay more.

No- you can pay for service on providers such as Net 10 or even T mobiles family plans or Simple mobile that use the same network as Att, but charge you nothing more than 50, do the math, even if you spend 80, your spending 30 more a month, 30 times 24 months is 720, Plus the initial 199. PLus overages if you go over, which in monthly unlimited plans doesnt happen

You are the one thats paying too much and using less.
Your data sucks, you Iphone has less features ,not even active.
Like face time and voice mail greetings.LTE.
Well let me do the math for you I can get an iPhone 5 right now for $299 for 32 gig ,then cancel my contract immediately and paid att $375 thats $675 right?
Then sell it on ebay for $1000 .because some retorted person like you will buy it.
Its stupid..I've been there it costs more $$..just to save $20 30 bucks a month?
Not worth it.
