Pebble today announced that it would start shipping its smartwatch to Kickstarter backers on January 23rd.

CEO Eric Migicovsky says the company had 68,000 backers on Kickstarter pledging for 85,000 watches. Their production line will be producing 15,000 watches per week and the company will be sending out watches in batches.

Migicovsky also says they have tens of thousands of customers who have signed up on their website looking to purchase the watch after the Kickstarter project closed.

Initially, the company's plans for apps is starting with watch faces, after that they will expand to casual games (ie. snake), from there they will expand to accelerometer based applications.
