A Dutch court has ruled that Samsung's Galaxy tablets don't infringe on the design of the iPad, according to a brief AllThingsD report.
Last October, a British court ruled that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablets don’t infringe Apple’s design patents; now a Dutch court has found the same thing. On Wednesday, a district court in the Hague ruled that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, and Galaxy Tab 7.7 don’t infringe Apple’s registered design for the iPad. While the devices might share a similar rectangular shape with rounded corners, the overall impression the present is different, the court said.
In the U.K. Apple was forced to run ads stating that Samsung did not copy its registered tablet designs on its website and in newspapers.
