They have also restricted this latest version to "unmodified" IOS devices. I hope this isn't going to be a trend with new versions of App Store apps.

The older version had similar notice when you first open Skype, but there was no problem loading it. Are you saying you can not use this version at all?

No, I'm not saying that. In fact , I've never actually used Skype on my Iphone 5 ( i have used it on my ipad though, b4 todays update), but I don't recall seeing that notice after last update. But my point was that it was a bit disconcerting to see that "unmodified" notice and although I have seen it with other apps too (time warner cable app is another example), it's very rare to see it and I hope it is more of rarity than the norm. Thanks for letting me know however, that it shouldn't hinder my skyping ability.

I updated Skype app this morning, and now I no longer have the video call option, only a video message option. How can I make a video call?
