Apple App Store Reaches 50 Billion Downloads

Apple has announced that the App Store has reached 50 billion downloads bringing an end to its '50 Billion Apps Countdown Promotion'.

Apple's homepage has been updated with the following message:

50 billion app downloads.
It couldn't have happened without you.

The company will be awarding a $10,000 App Store Gift Card to the lucky customer who downloaded the 50 billionth app, and a $500 App Store Gift Card to each of the next 50 people to download an app.
