Apple to Launch New Television Product as Early as November?
Venture capitalist and former TechCrunch reporter MG Siegler says Apple may be planning a television product for launch as early as November. He made the comments on John Gruber's podcast, "Mule Radio".
Not to go into rumor central here but the latest things like I've heard are some sort of television product — not necessarily a television screen but something — could be coming as soon as this November. And I think there's some surprises there about what it could actually be and I don't for sure what it could actually be but there's been whispers about, so I'm not going to write anything about it, but there's whispers out there that the interaction with it could be the interesting thing. People have talked about voice, but I think that's out the window and there might be some new way to interact with whatever this thing is.
Of course, there has been much speculation about Apple entering the TV business from both a hardware and software standpoint. On the hardware side there have been numerous rumors that Apple could release an actual television. Just last month it was said that Apple had requested 55 and 65-inch Ultra HD display panels from LG. Apple has also been rumored to be working on software for a product that would offer live and on-demand television. The service would apparently let users skip ads. It's even offered to pay media companies for the skipped views, according to reports.
Siegler mentions a unique way of interacting with this television product. An Apple smartwatch is always an option; although, a more unique method has been predicted by Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White who says that Apple will launch a television with a 'iRing' controller that is placed on your finger. It's also said that the iPad will function as a second screen for the television.
Apple has said it will be a busy fall. Follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, or RSS for the latest.
