Seven years ago Steve Jobs introduced the original iPhone, changing the phone and the industry forever. On January 9, 2007, after years of rumors and speculation, the iPhone was announced finally announced at the keynote address at the Macworld conference.

"I have been looking forward to this for two and a half years" Jobs said. Today, "Apple is going to reinvent the phone." The phone was locked to AT&T, had only 2G EDGE Service, and launched June 29, 2007. Many stores sold out within minutes even at the price point $499 for the 4GB version and $599 for the 8GB version. It would later reach 6,000,000 + sales at the time of its discontinuation.

Apple's (AAPL) stock was trading around $85 when the iPhone 2G was announced. It exceeded $700 five years later.

With the original iPhone, you were stuck with just a handful of stock apps, as Apple waited until iPhone OS 2.0 to introduce the SDK and unleash third-party applications. Today, the App Store is the most popular App Store with over three billion downloads a month.

Seven years later, the iPhone has a larger high-resolution screen, a front facing camera, fingerprint sensor, a greatly improved camera system and much more.

You mean innovative to creative, look at the Mac Pro of 2013, compare to the one that was made when jobs was alive, the only difference here is improvements because apple is nowadays unbeatable. They made an iOS many people upgraded immediately, they kept jobs' promise to make a 2nd campus, and they made the 1LB iPad air 2x powerful than before all without jobs.

To anyone saying "no more innovation after jobs died" how do you even know that first off? Jobs or no jobs, it's how apples products get better no matter who innovates it, look at the new Mac Pro for crying out loud, that's enough to understand why iPhone today is still popular for example, I have an iPad Air and I like it. If you watch the keynotes or search the benchmarks, you can see why Apple hasn't became crackberry at all.

Nothing compares to the feeling of having the first iPhone. It was the coolest thing ever. The last innovative version that came out was the 4. It was Steve's last project. Apple hasn't been the same since. It is now a faceless corporation. No mew mind blowing products and it is going down the shitter. If he were alive, we'd have a greater line of apple products today. We miss you sorely, Steve. Very much.

Iam a apple customer I skip to android now with Samsung it useless to be with apple they could not activate my iCloud which I update from 6 to 7 iOS it got lock so my mini iPad it's useless now so I went to Samsung iam very happy with the service.

My held first iphone is 3GS.. I've got ip4 ip5 & today owned the ip5s..great evolutionary from it's predecessor... Waiting for the larger screen to defeat any rival of smartphones... A really goodwork from apple...thanks Steve

iPhone 4 :) I think it was the biggest leap since the original iPhone in every way. The retina display and the design was unbelievable, it was like something from the future. Though I love my i5, I miss the excitement that I felt when I first held my iPhone 4 in my hand.

The camer that changed the way we take photos, instead of the lumpia logic, apple used larger aperture and sensor to add mp's and a flash, omg that's the best part of 5s.
