A snowblower has reportedly shattered a glass pane at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store.
In November 2011, the store was updated with 15 large glass panels replacing the 90 panels previously used. The cost of the renovation was reportedly $6.7 million. Some rough math puts the cost of one pane at $446,667.
Passersby say the store has not been closed because of the damage and it's unclear when Apple will be able to replace the glass.

;-) Couldn't pass on this one hey?
I wonder why such a high price on glass. Is it due to custom size, type of glass or something else?

Was it an Android snowblower?

Android is competing against iOS, not the store.

I obviously get what you mean but an os can't damage any store glass, you may be looking for the term "samsung".

If they never switched the glass from the original design (which was stupid imo) it would only be a shattered square. They better start using Gorilla Glass

You would think 450k dollars worth of glass would be strong enough to withstand a snowblower guess not apple fail

You mean gorilla glass?

gamerscul9870 - January 22, 2014 at 9:09pm
Argument invalid, apple can't support themselves, they have insurance to replace it, though gorilla glass should be used on everything involving apple, phones, tablets, computers, the tv with display this year, and now stores.

Even with AppleCare+...replacing a cracked glass is not free. Just cheaper.

Nope, apple care won't cover it. The water sensor sticker was tripped. They might sue themselves to get it replaced.

How does one company get themselves in trouble at court over themselves? It's like trying to commit suicide over nothing others did to cause it. And where did you ever hear a sensor that's a sticker?

You deserve more than a punish over tiny glass.

Also, was the glass even bulletproof or gorilla glass?

Cool, there's an app for that, but seriously do you really need a snowblower for 1 inch of snow??
