Brazil charges a high import tax on electronics.

How much do ipads and iphones cost compared to the US?

You wouldn't believe it. An iPad 16GB wifi+3G costs here amazing R$ 2,049.00 or US$ 840.00, against US$ 629.00 in US. It was worse before. Since Apple has started assembling iPhones and iPads in Brazil the prices felt down. A little.
