Apple appears to be selling refurbished devices on eBay once again. The company reportedly partnered with eBay to sell devices back in 2012 but hasn't listed any devices in that store for quite some time.
Now a new 'Factory Certified' store is currently carrying unlocked iPhone 5 devices in various configurations.
Apple Certified: 1-Year Warranty: Includes: ● Full one-year warranty ● Returned to like-new condition ● Receive complete burn-in testing ● Repackaged with manual and charger ● Final quality inspection by Apple

They sure seem to hold value! Maybe even artificially, but hey, maybe you can buy your own phone back a little cheaper!

They are sold out so clearly the market indicates it's a great value. An iPhone, like a Mercedes Benz is high quality and thoughtfully designed hence hold their value well. This demonstrates actual value. It's not a cheaply made plasticky device with a gimmicky os.
