The Apple Watch Will Let You Listen to Music Without an iPhone Using Bluetooth Headphones

Posted September 13, 2014 at 6:07pm by iClarified
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed an important feature of the upcoming Apple Watch - it's ability to play music without the need for an iPhone.

Cook revealed the following in an interview with Charlie Rose last night.

It requires an iPhone, because they've been designed to work together. However, if you go for a run, and you don't want to carry your iPhone, music is also on your watch. So with a Bluetooth headset, you can run and listen to your music without your iPhone.

We'll let you know more about the Apple Watch as details become available. For now check out the announced features, specs, pricing, and availability here. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for more updates.

And do more for health when you buy a watch and use social apps on it.

So how do you listen to music? Is it using data on your phone plan?

gamerscul9870 - September 14, 2014 at 3:48pm
If you're on tmobile it's totally free but you listen to music with cordless headphones or maybe it tells you info from your iPhone.

Why iPhone don't require 2-3 gb of rams and why its worth buying new iPhone.
gamerscul9870
gamerscul9870 - September 14, 2014 at 12:25pm
Because the screen is too small for gaming. Why do watches need ram?

I suppose it can track the distance but not accurately as a gps enabled app. Also it will not be able to track the route of the jog. Really we are social animals and like to show off what we are doing. Showing off the route is also paramount. Hmm I have to think about this. I want an iwatch for running. But I am using my iPhone to track and a iPod shuffle for music. How may apple devices do I really want to carry on my body?

I love apple but they made a grave mistake by going with this half baked watch. I wish they took more time to refine and not get pressured to release this.

Thoughtless...Really? Have you not considered why I said it's half baked? First of all you're such a fanboy that you failed to see the many reasons why I said its half baked. If you noticed during the key note Apple announced that it won't be available until next year. Hmmm maybe because it's "half baked"? They didn't mentioned battery life... Hmmm? Half baked, not ready? Don't you think that Tim Cook feel pressured to announce this early because he was afraid for people and analysts losing faith in Apple? I'm just saying they should have took a bit more time. Don't get me wrong I think this is the best smart watch out but it's not up to Apple's standard because it seemed rushed.

Did you not read the article over saying the watch lasts about one day? Besides apple is working to improve it thank you for noticing. Second, when did people ever lose faith in apple after all the jd power awards they won. Besides it took them time to make the watch because you know what they say, you can't rush art. It takes time to perfect a painting. Not everything in general can be rushed. Apple takes their time in case it's not enough or try to fit components in. It's working your way from the ground up unlike samsungs rushed knockoff.

Battery life is speculation dummy. Apple never mentioned it.

Again your argument against me was that it's not half-baked but you said it yourself Apple still improving battery life. So thanking for agreeing with me.

I know they had this one image of a guy with it on who was literally getting a bucket of water dumped on him. It seems like it will be pretty waterproof

IS IT WATERPROOF?? They've been so tightlipped about the waterproof factor, I mean there aren't any ports or anything so I guess it could be but if it was apple would be waving it in our faces!! does anyone have any ideas?

gamerscul9870 - September 13, 2014 at 6:45pm
It's sweatproof so maybe the waterproof thing was a secret.

What about a GPS... The main reason I run with my iPhone is so I can track my routes.
yas9in
yas9in - September 13, 2014 at 6:31pm
the GPS won't work I'm afraid, as the watch doesn't have the chip for that. the next model probably will though.
justabrake
justabrake - September 13, 2014 at 8:31pm
The iPhone does and the watch without a GPS is really useless because it's more like a health watch and you have people that like to track their miles at lease I do Really no GPS DEAD in its Tracks
shidzuki
shidzuki - September 13, 2014 at 8:45pm
oh boo hoo. that sounds so terrible. Anyhow it's possible they could give it the ability to track routes with its accelerometer and that new motion engine they gave it, have it track the directions and lengths you traveled and match them with a map when it connects back to your phone. That's how i would do it atleast.
