Late last month, Microsoft announced that it was dropping the Nokia name from its smartphones and would soon launch 'Microsoft Lumia' smartphones.
Today, Engadget spotted the first Microsoft Lumia phone, the RM-1090, at the FCC.
The dual-SIM handset has popped up at both the FCC and its Chinese equivalent, packing a 5-inch qHD display and 3G-only radios, so it's clearly a low-budget device. Still, the vertical stripe running down the back is just as we'd expected, although it's still surprising to see the Microsoft logo beneath the earpiece instead of good ol' Nokia.
Do you think Microsoft branding will help the company sell more of its smartphones? Let us know what you think in the comments...

Not really, MS bought Nokia mobile division and renamed it, So everything stays same except logo on the phone.
Anyway, i prefer Lumia over iphone althought I still have iPhone 5.
My next choise would be 930, not iPhone 6

maybe it's good news... maybe nokia can start over as the underdog with a new self made OS and new design... they still co-own the licenses, so they could do it... hope dies last.

Gross! For something from "Microsoft", it's should be a bit thinner and maybe not so, hard on the eyes. Terrible looking phone.

That dual sim is scary for phone companies. I use one for a unlimited t mobile data plan and the cheap pre paid AT&T service for the best coverage for my factory unlocked blu phone. Apple needs to pay attention!

Heard of Apple Sim?

IIRC the phone's aimed towards countries outside the US (particularly where dual SIM phones are popular s.a. Russia). Since it may reach US shores through imports (probably), FCC approval might be required anyway.

To what exactly? You're the one who needs notes on how much thought a phone looks like. Windows 8 hint hint.

Id rather have my own sims instead of the apple sim. I can choose instead of apple choosing or some company not accepting the apple sim. That way I have two slots and two Esn on one phone and companies cannot disable apple sim. My choice to use two sims.

Microsoft branding has never helped sell any other smartphone. I don't see how it will help in this case either.

Windows phone will never catch on as a considerable or desirable OS ever, it's a terrible platform that should've died right along side blackberry
