Over a hundred demonstrators briefly invaded the flagship Fifth Ave Apple Store this evening to stage a 'die-in', reports Reuters.
The demonstration was part of protests that began on Wednesday when a grand jury declined to bring charges against police officer Daniel Pantaleo for choking Eric Garner, a black 43-year-old father of six, to death.
Garner, who had no weapon, was being arrested on suspicion of selling cigarettes illegally. A videotape of his confrontation with police on Staten Island in July showed Pantaleo's arm across Garner's neck as he is subdued by four officers, then Garner was pinned face down to the pavement as he repeatedly gasps, "I can't breathe" - a phrase protesters have adopted as a rallying cry.
The decision not to charge Pantaleo came just nine days after a grand jury in Missouri determined charges would not be brought against a police officer who shot and killed a black teenager in Ferguson.
While previous nights had seen thousands of protesters hit the streets, rainy weather reduced the turnout tonight to a few hundred. Protesters stormed into the Apple Store to stage a 'die-in', sprawling on the floor as employees and shoppers looked on. They left after about five minutes.
Similar 'die-ins' were held at Macy's and Grand Central Terminal.

Well, to be frank, they simply figured it from a PR angle-- in the Apple store everybody could video the die-in and post it onto the net. Get it?

Your attitude of indifference to human suffering and lack of any moral compass is why all of this is happening and why I give us little chance of surviving as a species
