WSJ: Gold Apple Watch is Scratch-Resistant, Apple is Investigating Platinum Casings

The gold being used in the Apple Watch Edition model is scratch-resistant, according to the WSJ.

The site revealed the tidbit ahead of Apple's special event today where the company is expected to unveil more details about its upcoming smartwatch.


Interestingly, the WSJ also suggests that an even more expensive Apple Watch may be in the works with Apple investigating platinum.

The company has refined the smartwatch’s luxury features, making the gold in the Edition model scratch-resistant, according to people familiar with the matter. It also has studied platinum watch casings, although the company isn’t expected to announce that on Monday, they said.
