Apple has moved audiobooks from the Music app to the iBooks app and introduced a dedicated Audiobooks CarPlay app in iOS 8.4 beta, notes 9to5Mac.
You can now choose Audiobooks from the Collections list to only view those items from your Library. iBooks has a new player screen that lets you easily access chapters from a button at the top right. You can also increase and decrease the speed of playback using a button at the bottom left and there is a sleep timer that can be set via a button at the bottom right.
Notably, you can swipe left or right to skip forward or back. A quick swipe over the artwork will move you forward or back 15 seconds. If you drag and hold the artwork, the time will skip further depending on how long you hold your finger on the screen before releasing.
There's also a new Audiobooks application for the CarPlay interface. It features the iBooks icon and supports typical playback controls.

This is so dumb :(
My car connects to the iPod app and I listen to audiobooks through that. Sigh. Now I have to fidget with my phone to play the freaking thing.
