Apple to Replace Newsstand with New Flipboard-like App?

Apple to Replace Newsstand with New Flipboard-like App?

Posted June 8, 2015 at 4:10pm by iClarified
Apple plans to announce a free, Flipboard-style news application that will replace the current Newsstand app, according to ReCode.

Apple's news app will reportedly serve up content from big media partners including ESPN, the New York Times, and Conde Nast and Hearst, sources say. Instead of the Newsstand app, individual publishers can distribute apps through the App Store like any other developer.

Publishers will keep all the revenues from advertising they sell within the new app; however, Apple will continue to take their standard 30% cut from subscriptions sold through the app.

The report does not mention if the new news app will be an iOS 9 release, or something that will roll out with iOS 8.4.
