New Samsung Ad Touts Samsung Pay Over Apple Pay [Video]

Posted September 21, 2015 at 8:32pm by iClarified
Samsung has a new 'It's Not a Phone, It's a Galaxy' ad that touts Samsung Pay as being accepted at more locations than Apple Pay.

Samsung Pay is accepted almost anywhere you swipe or tap your card. It’s not a phone, it’s a Galaxy.

Since Samsung Pay features Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies, it will work with most existing point-of-sale (POS) terminals. The company says "it’s the only mobile payment service that works virtually anywhere you can swipe your credit card or debit card."

Take a look at the ad below...

Samsung pays Apple even in lawsuits that's why they are involved with them.

That's why there's AMPY AMPY AMPY there to give you unlimited charge for your battery by movement and it's portable. Owns the shit out of "wireless" charge that doesn't prove shit!

This is not innovation. I agree with most people when they say that copying other technologies is how you build off of them and innovate, but this is one-upmanship plain and simple. a month after the gold 5s, the gold s4. A month after Apple Pay, Samsung Pay. Their phones always have a grab-bag of useless features that they tout over the other companies (yes, windows phone too) and claim theirs is better. It's not innovation when you add a silly half-baked heart rate sensor or a weird curvy screen that doesn't work half the time (first-hand experience). Forget about competing, and just make a phone that people want! AND STOP HATING ON APPLE IN EVERY SINGLE AD!!! It's so aggravating! (apple never does it jtlyk)

The problem with the Samsung technology is that it's so easy to hack if I stand close enough to the person making the purchase. They sell it on eBay years ago and it was one of the major tools used by hackers. This was so preveleng with the swipe to pay. I'll still with my IPhone until I can feel secure about my credit card.

This makes no sense. The data sent is through the same method as Apple-- tokenization of a virtual/digital credit card number. For Samsung Pay to work, someone would have to activate it and have your fingerprint or PIN to even TRY and record the tokenized data.

You ever heard of SE (Secure Elements?) combined with a dynamic tokens? That's the big difference. It creates a unique code that can't be used twice rather than knowing the matrix of the code number and identifying it as your CC. The numbers can't be trace to the transactions versus the finger prints Android uses. A whole lot difference.

XB... Try reading more in details? When your making a payment with your Android, a scanner can pick up the token made by the Android device and make grievous charges before you even leave the store. Just have to close enough while your making a payment with your fingerprint on the phone.

Samsung is playing catchup. Nothing more. No innovation. 3D Touch by Apple, that's innovation.

That may be true, just like how Apple said they invented wifi calling when in fact t-mobile had that on their android phones for years now, but Apple made it popular and easy to use and just made it work better, so why doesn't other phones have 3d touch yet? Cause Apple had to take that technology and make it work, probably going to have to do it with the self driving car too

All while Samsung lays off 10,000 employees...
so?
so? - September 22, 2015 at 1:12am
C'est la vie.. same happened in every sector in the world.. car manufacturing, factories, technology companies like Cisco, Microsoft etc.. even in gas stations. welcome to capitalism, if you have a mean to reduce costs and make bigger profit and automate the task.. then remove whatever is not needed. either humans or anything else..

In this case, Samsung is firing humans so they can make a profit in their mobile business.

Samsung needed apple to get more locations just like it needed iPhone for ideas! It's not an iPhone it's a Galaxy and this is how it all works with business.

Actually the iPhone only has nfc while Samsung has that and mst which makes the Galaxy work at almost every place a swipe card reader works

Only until EMV cards are required and start transitioning October 1st, 2015.

Actually, Samsung Pay will work with EMV/chip and pin/signature terminals. There's a thread on Reddit with someone who beta-tested this: 1st Place - Walmart - This was the big test for me because my Walmart requires that I insert my chipped Bank of America card into the CC machine. It will not accept a swipe anymore. There has been a lot of talk against Samsung's MST because of the future use of chipped cards. I tried it out with my phone today and it worked with zero problems. The transaction processed quicker than what I am used to using a card swipe. This place was packed with so many people that the cashier didn't even notice that I used my phone. Really happy, zero problems. 2nd Place - Target - This is another store that requires that I insert my chipped BofA card. It will also not accept a card swipe. I told the cashier that I was going to pay with my phone and she said "you are?" I said yes, I did it and it worked flawlessly again, no errors, nothing. Cashier told me it was the first time she has seen anyone pay with a phone. I was going tell her show her her how it worked, but there were too many people behind me so I took my stuff and walked out the door. No one is required to accept Apple pay, they can refuse to accept that payment, get over yourself with this required to accept Apple pay
slybacon08
slybacon08 - September 22, 2015 at 1:14am
After October 1, 2015, EMV cards will begin to take over magnetic swipe cards. Meaning, you can either "dip" your chip-and-pin card, or use NFC technology. No more swiping your card. So, Samsung Pay will be limited how Apple Pay is limited after the required transition takes foot.

More than that, they've either absolutely lost it or they think we're just plain stupid. Competition is good and I like some things they do but this creeper thing is just the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.

I would really like to see various companies invent and innovate and leap frog each other. That is what benefits the consumer.
