They didn't say anything about battery life ether.

Because all you need to know is that the capacity was mentioned prior to the announcement. 5.1mm battery in series 2 compared to the 3.96mm in series 1.

No there is no call capabilities able to be done yet. It would have been mentioned otherwise.

Apple or no one else has mentioned anything about the screen. How tough it is? New glass? Gorilla glass? Nothing.

They have, but only one change, then again, why else would they improve a near perfect display? I'll mention it in quotes to give you exactly what's mentioned in the event from the 39 minute mark: "second generation display that's more than 2 times brighter than before. It's the brightest display Apple has shipped with a lot of nits."
