iPhone 7 pre-orders just went live last night and Apple is already preparing early orders for shipment.
U.S. customers are reporting that their order status has already switched to 'Preparing for Shipment'. Something that has taken a few days in the past.
Apple is set to deliver its first iPhone 7 orders on September 16th alongside the the in-store launch of the new smartphone.

So the change of status to "preparing to ship" means almost nothing? My delivery dates for an iPhone 7+ Rose Gold 256GB are October 14-21. Did not order at midnight. I placed my order on Sept. 10. Are my delivery dates accurate or does the change of status mean it is coming earlier than expected

Look at Apple's Website. My Apple Store App states "Preparing for Shipment". I logged on to the website and it shows it was shipped days ago! And I can track it. The App is delayed. Hope this helps ease the frustration.

I preordered my silver 128 gb iphone 7 plus on 9/11 with ATT.. My original ship date was 10/4-10/17.. last night the order switched to shipped with a tracking number and estimated delivery date of 9/16.

This might be a stupid question. If my order says "Delivers Sep 16 by Standard Shipping", does that mean I'm supposed to expect to receive my iPhone on Sep 16? Or does everyone have that date since that's the official release date? The status is "Preparing for Shipment".
For reference: Ordered a 128gb "black" (i.e. matte black) iPhone 7 minutes after the pre-order opened up on the Apple website.

Placed an order on the Apple website at 3:03 AM EST for the Space Black iPhone 7+ and iWatch Series 2 42mm sport. I chose the T-Mobile version since it is unlocked. Both orders are still saying Processing with a delivery date of Oct 4th to Oct 11th.
I travel three weeks out of the month and need to make sure I am here for it. Come on, apple. Get it together!

Interestingly enough, I've got a delivery date of Oct. 14-21st from AT&T, and mine has already changed to "Preparing for shipment." Not sure if it's shipping super early, or if AT&T just likes to tease customers.

Dont get too happy. Mines is supposed to ship sep29 - oct 7 and its said preparing for shipment too but to expect it to ship within time frame given.

i placed 2 orders one for the matte black and one gold for the 7 plus and less than 24 hours it said preparing for shipment should be getting them on friday

I ordered a jet black 7 plus 128gb within a minute of preorders going live. Mine won't deliver until the 21st-29th of Septemeber so I'm still stuck on "processing items". A few minutes I noticed that the model I wanted (and the 256gb one too) had changed to "ships in 3-4 weeks" and then "ships in November" while at the time many of the other models delivered on September 16th. Hoping mine doesn't get delayed

I never have any luck with Apple web site! At 12:10am PST and I couldn't even get in so I switched to AT&T, I was able to get in and choose my options but when I clicked on "Pre-Order" button, the screen froze on me :( After like 5 minutes, I was able to complete my order and mine will be shipped between Oct 14 - Oct 21 :( When I switched to Apple web site, the ship date is now November! So actually, it's not too bad for me! I wonder if the size and color choice make any difference. I ordered 7 plus, 256G, Jet Black

Ordered 3. Two ( 7 and 7+ ) changed to 'preparing for shipment'. The 3rd phone (7) is still processing. Also the first two were charged on my Amex. The 3rd not as of yet
