Does anyone know if the option comes to purchase it Sim-Free (without a carrier) ?

Usually iPhones are locked to carriers except for the T-Mobile version. Historically whether you buy sim-free or T-Mobile makes no difference. But given the pricing structure of this phone, since it seems that there is no contract discount, they may all be unlocked? No idea.

Shut up idiot they are not, look at their site and try ordering one. They are all unlocked. Now if you get them thru a carrier they can lock them.

How do you buy the T-Mobile version without a contract ? I was looking for an unlocked and seen this morning they’re not offering one at this time
