iPhone Dev-Team is Working on New Baseband Downgrade Method

Posted December 8, 2010 at 1:40pm by iClarified
The iPhone Dev-Team is working on a baseband downgrade method which will even work for those who updated to the 06.15 modem firmware.

MuscleNerd tweeted the following earlier today...

@Lezanz sorry still collecting data on that. But also working on a bb downgrade (!) method for those with unlockable bb

@idansc yes if the BB downgrade method works, it will work for 06.15 too.

This would be excellent news especially for those who upgraded to 06.15 for unlock and lost their GPS capabilities.

When is going to be release the downgrade from 6.15 to 5.13.04? I've heard that they where waiting for the iOS 5 to come out and now everything is set up so they can release this downgrade! Thanks

I upgraded my friends iPhone 3Gwith a custom fw 4.2.1 with baseband 6.15.00 after he accidentally updated the iPhone 3G from 3.1.3 with the unlock which he needs, but it didn't finish the update and gave him an error 1015. Everytime after that I try to restore it to apples 4.2.1 but gave me same error, so I updated with a custom fw and no error. The problem now is that it updated the baseband to 6.15.00 and his other carrier sim don't work; no calls always a try again, Wi-fi don't work either unless you are to close to the router, Can't try to update the settings for his network. Is there a way to downgraded it back to 3.1.3 with the last baseband or is he screw and have to wait.

You will have to wait and there is no method to downgrade your firmware But did you use cydia to jailbreak it and unlock it? I have 4.2.1 with 6.15 and it is working fine except the battery issue and gps.

This is phenomenal news! My iPhone 3GS is on iOS 4.1 / bb 05.14.02 and I've just been waiting and waiting either for an unlock to that baseband or a new, higher baseband that can be unlocked (no, I'm not putting the iPad baseband on my iPhone and making a frankenphone). Now I have one more option that I can wait for!

Is this baseband downgrade method (if possible) going to be able to downgrade iPhone 4 baseband 02.10.04 to 01.59.00 so that it can be unlocked with ultrasn0w?

What I actually don't understand is that they succeed in injecting the iPad baseband in in the iPhone but were unable to do the same with previous iPhone baseband !!! ----- Really strange on how this thing works !

I have been waiting for unlock baseband 2.10.04 for months. I couldn't use the phone at all. Is there no ability for unlocking the baseband? There's no way we could unlock this baseband. There is big tragedy here for any one who has that baseband. Hopefully, it is gonna unlock that baseband. If the firmware keeps coming out since we can't unlock baseband 2.10.04. For the next base band would be harder and harder to break. So, in future, no one dares to have an iphone.

Hmmmm... Thats a scary anouncement..... So it means the new bb finally got to a point where its impossible to unlock and now dev team is looking for a way to downgrade???? What will happen when they block that downgrade hole???? Whats the point of beimg able to downgrade???? Its 100% better a bb unlock. So we have tje latest fixes and updates.

I don't think that's the reason. Dev-team found out that iPad 3G baseband where unlockable the same way as previous iPhone basebands and thought it was a great idea to use the old exploit and just upgrade baseband. When people reported GPS loss etc. they now have to make downgrade possible to fix these stuck iPhones. That's what i think.
