iOS 4.3.1 to be Released Within Two Weeks?

Posted March 21, 2011 at 9:22am by iClarified
Apple will reported release iOS 4.3.1 within two weeks to fix minor issues and close a jailbreak vulnerability, according to a BGR report.

Here are the changes from iOS 4.3:
● Baseband updates for the 3GS and iPad (original)
● Fixed memory hang that results in memory corruption when reading large files from USIM filesystem
● Fixed problem with NTLM authentication in apps and on websites
● Fixed issue with the Springboard and 3rd party apps not recgonizing the gyroscope on the iPad 2
● Fixed iPad 2 jailbreak vulneratbility

It's unclear which iPad 2 jailbreak vulnerability is being fixed by Apple since none have been released yet. It was thought that Apple would be fixing the Safari based exploit used by Charlie Miller to win Pwn2Own with the 4.3.1 update.

As long as they fix the correction/spell checking they messed up with 4.3 I'll be happy!

What did they mess up? The spellchecking has improved massively for me as they've finally started recognising when you miss the space bar - like if you type "hellonworld"

I'm from Sweden and Apple messed it up big time for us.. Now everything is weird and every other word (mostly longer ones) are split into two words and then changed into other words..

Sounds like it's the same fix, but it works a lot better in English

I'm an iPhone user. No doubt it's a great device. Previously i was using Jailbreaked phones but i got sick of some issue. Bought a factory unlocked and now i'm the happiest person on the earth. Thanks.

Obviously you did not JB the phone right. The winter board is alone enough to justify a JB.

a few days later I said that the dev team will wait for the 4.5.... well I missed the number, they will wait for the 4.3.1 and then will wait for the 4.3.2 and then for the 4.4 and so on... someone said, the dev team is being paid by apple... I am starting to think they are... I love my Iphone I do... and that is why I purchased a factory unlock Iphone, yes I know I am playing the apple game, but I prefer to do it that way instead of waiting for tools that a bunch of so called hackers, the line HACK the World does not work when they are paid by apple..

And this means, that the theoretical NCK unlock is going to be delayed month or so :)))

I was waiting for 4 months for the unlock. but i have to face the truth, they do have the unlock, but they cant find a hole to inject it. No hopes for me on the nck thing, since IF they can even get it, they just have ONE shot to get it, so theyll have to somehow write a damn easy tool for all the noobs to understood how it works i maybe get it working. Ill keep supporting dev team since ive been jailbreaking/unlocking iphones for yrs now, but i think its time to em to tell the truth, they cant unlock it, and will keep the good works with other projects like 3GS BB downgrade and stuff like. Ill not get any angry to hear the truth, ive know that could happen, at the moment i bought the att iphone to user on other carrier. Anyway keep the good work guys !

I feel apple lately have been very sloppy with their IOS releses, each realease brings new bugs and break things that were currently working such as the video flickering. Maybe it's a strategy to keep on top of jailbreaking.

Charlie Miller's exploit never worked on 4.3 because of ASLR. He pwned 4.2.1.

The vulnerability was still there in 4.3. He just didn't take the time to write the code to circumvent the ASLR.

It's not clear that he would even be able to. ASLR is designed specifically to make attacks like this difficult.

Looks like Dev-Team is being paid by apple to stop the unlocking...

Yeah true. I eventually went out and got a iphone 4 on contract. Couldn't wait for Dev team to keep breaking promises again and again. In the end Apple will win. Now I am very happy with my iPhone 4 being unlocked and have the ability to upgrade at any given time. If I want an app I just pay for it. Apps are so cheap as well. Ive stopped supporting the Dev Team a long time ago - it was good while it lasted, they just cant keep up. Some people have been waiting for 5 months for an unlock for their iphones, which is rediculous (yes we know should have waited) but to wait half a year is abit long if you ask me. By then new updates, better releases and support for the new OS. Apple has made a really good mobile phone. Sure its not open like other phones, but for what it is - its still damn good. Anyway, once agin im very happy and have had my good use of my iphone for 6months while others still have theirs in the bix waiting for the unlock - good thing you have the patience hey. BTW : i always wonder what phones do people use who wait for months for the unlocks? Do you buy a crappy cheap phone and wait? Good luck to the unlockers - as for me this is probably my last post here in iClarified - Im with apple on this one now. Bye
