This tutorial will use WinPwn to unlock and jailbreak your 2G iPhone on the 2.0 firmware.

Some 2G users have experienced problems with the latest version of WinPwn. Make sure to set the partition size to 512MB or higher!

To follow this tutorial you will need to have iTunes 7.7 installed (make sure to reboot). Also, you may need to download and install .Net Framework if you are on Windows XP.

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage. In it place the following files: Winpwn 2.0.0.4 or Winpwn 2.0.0.4 , 3.9BL , 4.6BL , and the latest 2.0 firmware.

My 2g iPhone wil shut down on its own as soon as it starts. But when I take the SIM card out it will start up fine and I can use it has a iPod. I have tried the restore multiple times as well as downloading different .IPSW's I am using redsn0w-win_0.7.2. Anything I do my iPhone still shuts down. I tried starting it up then putting the SIM card in after it starts up but as soon as I call someone or after 10-30 mins it shuts down again then after that it just keeps shutting down when I start it please help?

I have recently received the first generation (2G) iPhone, version 1.1.4. and using Vodacom as my service provider. I have activated my GPRS, or atleast that is what i think i activated, and seem to be able to get access to the internet and mail. some Internet addresses deny me access, saying that my edge is not activated. does anyone know the easiest and most cost effective way of activating my edge. thanks

I got it right. Didn't succeed with my PC so I took it to a friend and installed iTunes 7.7 onto his system and did the upgrade (Note both Windows XP) . Worked first time. Upgraded from 1.1.2 to 2.0.1 using iTunes 7.7. You can get older versions of iTunes from FileHippo. I don't think the version of iTunes has anything to do with it though (as long as it is later than 7.7....correct me if I am wrong). My last option was to uninstall all Apple products as written on the Apple Website help, and re-install, but I didn't have to do that. By the way, I also didn't need to make any mods to my Edge settings. I am on a Vodacom contract and I was able to set the APN normally from the network settings, and Safari worked immediately. I will let you know if the Edge settings revert, but for now it is working well.

Hey Deeps and all, I was wondering if anyone has recently (in 2009) been able to unlock iphone (2g) using this above tutorial. And still has been able to use it with ATT? I am with ATT and I want to use 2g iphone (after unlocking it using this above procedure) but don't want to buy and pay for data plan (since I don't want to use it). I see that this tutorial has been of real help to lot of guys..unlike ebay, here I can at least see come reviews. So please guys, hit back as soon as you can. Thanks a ton.
