Spotify has invited the press to an event on April 18th at which the company will make a special announcement, reports BGR.

It's not entirely clear what the event might cover, although recent reports have indicated the music streaming service may allow app and playlist recommendations from various brands in an effort to make the platform more attractive to advertisers.

Notably, it appears the company may be could also be planning to launch an official app for the iPad. The Verge spotted that a Swedish technology consultant posted an image of what he claims is a beta version of the app to Instagram, along with the caption "It's getting closer!"

You can download Spotify from the App Store for free.
