Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu says Apple has been working on iPads of various shapes and sizes since 2009 in a recent note to investors.
According to Wu, Apple has tested devices from 4-inches to 12-inches. He's not sure if Apple will release a mini iPad but believes it would be a good idea.
iPad mini Would Be Competition's Worst Nightmare. From a competitive standpoint, we believe an iPad mini with a lower price point would be the competition's worst nightmare. Most of them already have a tough enough time competing against the iPad 2, as well as the new iPad with their $399 and $499 starting price points. So far, only AMZN has had modest success with its Kindle Fire at $199. We believe a lower priced iPad mini would make it even more difficult for the competition to gain traction.
Current iPad apps a designed for the full sized iPad. If Apple bring jout a smaller one the will app develops have to start putting a third level that sits somewhere between ipads and iphones or will iPad apps just be shrunk down - which will compromise usability.
It seems unlikely to me that Apple would be happy to make either compromise.
Also a smaller model is likely to have a smaller battery life if it keeps the same resolution - or go with the iPad 1
I don't think that the size will matter much for apps developer. If they can develop the apps from scratch, it shouldn't be a problem for them to alter the size of their apps. If the apps can offer a big resolution screen like the New Ipad, it should be no problem reducing the size. Look at a digital photo, its easy to shrink the size of the photo and still have it a smooth picture, but if u have a low resolution picture it will be hard to increase the size and still have the same quality photo.
ok wow, not thats even funnier, The iphone and ipod is probably the smallest thing that Apple has, and they have been fine. Im sure more people text on the iphone than does the ipad. Also iphone and ipod have more apps than the ipad. if its textable and readable on the iphone 3. something screen, a 7 inch screen shouldnt be a problem at all. I actually find it a little inconvenient that the ipad is a little too big and heavy. When you play games and actually have to hold the ipad up for hours or even minutes it gets really heavy like ur working out. Hey if you want it super big get a 17inch apple macbook, they have it you know, no need to criticize smaller products that they have.
BTW, you talk like if apple introduce the mini 7 inch ipad they will discontinue the original ipad size, which is not the case, it will just be an addition to the market, more choices for consumer, but no confusion because they all have the same tech and features, just different screen sizes. Better for app developers too since they will be able to put their apps onto more devices and earn more. Not a bad idea at all bro.
You seem to be completely misunderstanding me.
The iPhone is fine to use because the apps are designed for a 3.5" screen. The iPad is fine to use because the apps are designed for a 10" (or whatever) screen. If apps designed for a 10" screen are squashed down to a 7" space then the widgets are all half the size they're designed to be. This will make text smaller and buttons smaller and closer together.
Also I never suggested (or thought) that the 10" model would be going.
Some people think that the screen size doesn't make a difference in the price of the iPad, you're wrong! Go try n shop for a tv n tell them Samsung why are u selling ur 60 inch tv at a higher price compared to ur 46 inch? Both have d same technology that u put in, in example, 3D, LED, 240 hertz, etc. Samsung will say ur an idiot get outta here :)
if I can make call,,, I will buy it, right now I am using my iPad second gen to make calls... OK before you start shooting on my.... I am using a Gmate for that... I tested the Galaxy note and to be honest I hate it with all my heart, I do not mean to be a fanboy... but the IOS is just beautiful, simple and I love it
Jobs realized how bad he squandered away the opportunity to conquer the computing world in his first half of life because of the kiddy Mac os. The time he was exiled from Appleif not for the unwavering made him realize the wonderful reincarnation of his brain child OS in the guise of BSD Unix. The result speaks for itself; Mac OS X is near bulletproof. Of course it would not be ad beautiful as it is now if not for his unwavering devotion to perfection. Looking into the near future, Android and Windows 8 will both have a hard time to compete. Any fanboys defending those two really don't spend enough time exploring iOS.
