JailbreakMe Update Now Available as 'Essential Upgrade' in Cydia

JailbreakMe Update Now Available as 'Essential Upgrade' in Cydia

Posted July 11, 2011 at 11:47pm by iClarified
Comex has released an update to JailbreakMe as an 'Essential Upgrade' that can be installed via Cydia, saurik reports.

So, @comex made some fixes to the kernel patches for JailbreakMe, and we are pushing them as an "Essential Upgrade"... I hope this works! :(

To be clear: do /not/ go back to jailbreakme.com and "redo" the jailbreak; instead, just open Cydia, and accept the new "Essential Upgrade".

This update should fix the issue with the Camera Connection Kit that we reported on earlier.

If you haven't already jailbroken your device you can find instructions on how to do so here:
iPhone
iPad
iPod touch

Yeah! My iPhone 4 crashed completely after using JailbreakMe.com and installing BiteSMS.. More precise, I recieved a message and when I choosed to read the message from the Lock Screen my iPhone ended up restarting itself but never getting past the silver Apple logo so I had to put it in DFU mode and Restore it.. But my iPhone always freaks out after being Jailbroken for a few days so I'm just gonna have to settle with stock and wait for iOS 5.. -.-

iBooks still broken. Only fix is to install old version 1.2.2 of iBooks if you have DRM'd books you bought from Apple.

Thanks for the heads up on iBook. I'm waiting for the fix myself. Jailbreak twice and iBook still crashes. Was hoping they fix it.

@Rui Fonseca, If you have iBooks greater than version 1.2.2 and have an Apple purchased iBook (with DRM) it will crash on a JailbreakMe jailbroken device. You'll need to open the DRM book and wait up to a minute, but it will consistently crash. Reinstalling, fixing permissions, resync, hard reboot, rejailbreaking, nothing works except reverting back to 1.2.2 (or restoring and losing the jailbreak)
