As expected Samsung has filed a lawsuit against Apple over the iPhone 5, reports Reuters.
Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday that it filed a new lawsuit against Apple Inc in a U.S. court, contending the iPhone 5 infringed on Samsung's patents.
In a statement, Samsung said: "...we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights."
It is a branding and marketing move. It is difficult for Samsung to win this case as Apple license most of their LTE technology from Qualcomm. Samsung just want to tell the world they also invented something and not a copycat company!
Why is Samsung still trying? Dear Samsung, just make, design or build a better phone and let the people chose between Apple and Samsung. But for now, your still way behind Apple and probably #3 behind Blackberry. And by making commercials about IPhone, your showing the world that Apple is on top of the cell business. Thanks for the promo and stick to TV making.
Just so you know dude, Samsung owns 38% of the smartphone market while apple owns just 18%. while iphone is the most publisized phone and i love it, you have to give credit to Samsung specially when they sell twice as many ohones as you..... If you dont believe the numbers - go look it up.

I own a Samsung phone,blackberry and a iphone in our household which are all active.
I have a samsung phone and dont like it the iphone is so much better the quality and os just work together.
The worst thing is I have to use a blackberry for work I wish they switch us over to iphones soon.

Seriously, all these ignorant comments makes me sad lol. Not trying to be offensive or whatever. Just wanting to get the fact straight. The processor the used in Apple's product(A4, A5X, or etc) are made by Samsung. Why didn't Apple make it themselve? Because they can't. Apple seems to grew big very quickly recently. But still not as big as to compare them with Samsung. You can easily tell that from looking at their stocks. The lawsuits between those two are quite entertaining indeed. What i do not understand is Samsung could simply ignore Apple. But is willing to fight against Apple. Could be noise marketing, serious in infringement, or whatever. But either way, its funny how people come up online bashing eachother without knowing things correctly. Anyway Apple known as making premium quality products. Kinda overpriced but they put alot of work in designing which made customers to ignore the price tag. Samsung known as one of biggest electronics company. Make varity products to suit most people's case. Its sad to hear people complaining that Samsung doesnt give you customer service. But that might be only in US. In east-asia, they do full support greater than how Apple does in US. If the customer isnt satisfy, they give you full cash refund. Unlike circulating refubished devices. Anyhow dont call me a samsung fanboy or something. I own both Samsung and Apple products. iPhone 4, iPad 1-3 gen, iPhone 5, SG2, SGT2, Galaxy note, and so on.. From my point of view, they do not interfere anything to get sued about. And Apple rip offs customers. Samsung sucks with OS(android). Now stop making a comment about how your device so greater than others. Both good in some ways and suck in some ways.

The point is even samsung does not own the os they run on their device. they also rely on someone for that so what's the big deal if apple is also getting hard-ware stock from them? apple runs its own os that enhances maximum performance of the device unlike my samsung s2 that i always need to charge my phone for serious battery drainage. The truth is they all have their ups and downs but it's up to u to judge which is having more downside when comparing. like i always say, choose wisely. I for once will go for premium quality not something that just features anything. And remember samsung's success in the market share results in the wide variety of consumer electronics product. Not only smart phones, ipods, and computers like apple does so u can't just compare. imagine apple also into that . Then u will actually realize the bigger race is on.
"The processor the used in Apple's product(A4, A5X, or etc) are made by Samsung"... described in a better term, Apple designed their previous chips themself(SoC), Samsung only manufactured them. As for Apple A6, they took it to the next level which used custom Apple-designed ARMv7 based CPU. Please get your facts straight also. in simpler word, Apple is the innovator and Samsung is just a manufacturer. if Apple never contracted Samsung to manufacturer most of iPhones components, and if Eric Schmidt never was on Apple's Board, i dont know what crappy smartphones will Samsung/Android produced themselves. if you look into more facts, Eric Schmidt (Google's then CEO) was on Apple's Board members when the iPhone were first being developed but was ousted before the iPad is developed. Hence the reason why Android's smartphones can play catch up with iPhones, but for tablets they are just far behind the iPads.

fuck no... as the owner of a galaxy s3, a galaxy nexus, and numerous iphones --- the wider screen fucking sucks balls. it's not comfortable in the hand...
People wanted a 16:9 screen and apple gave Otto them. Now they want a wider screen! How fuckibg big does a phone need to be? It's a fucking phone! Not a tablet!
You are right. we consumers are here doing the real fight and hating the most but this people even though waging patent war are in business and working hand in hand. Samsung may still sue apple but yet apple is asking them to manufacture things for them. and it's vice versa. so what's the point if they really hate each other so much, why the link? we have to wise up. Remember the end user will always go for the best, something with all the features i guess..... not devices that is making name or fame.
oh yes but at least we all agree that the ios is far better than the android which sadly can't run on samsung's smart phones. So u see, the choice is always yours. choose wisely.
The iPhone 5 is not shit!! It is the fastest phone on the market! It is thinner than the s3! It's more durable than the s3!! I am not a fanboy of Apple, I like Samsung and Apple!! This is just common facts :)
