Untethered iOS 8.1.1 Jailbreak Demonstrated [Video]

Posted November 20, 2014 at 5:02am by
iH8Sn0w and XanderKitteh have demonstrated an untethered jailbreak of iOS 8.1.1. The pair posted a video to YouTube which shows an iPad running Cydia and verbose booting with a custom boot logo.

The two hackers have been working on the jailbreak since last Friday. Unfortunately, their current jailbreak only works with 30 pin devices due to no serial over Lightning.

Hopefully, continued progress will be made.

Been working on this since last Friday with @XanderKitteh (really awesome dude). This uses some new research between the two of us (not bootrom related[aw ik], but not HFS either). Still only limited to working with 30pin devices due to no serial over lightning :(

This does not mean a public release of something jailbreaking-related is coming from me anytime soon. So don't update.

iOS 8.2 beta1 went live yesterday. I'll look into that after I catch up on some school assignments I pushed to the side last weekend :P

Jon pe if you don't like that ih8sn0w has a jail break for 8.1.1 and isn't realising it, then I'd suggest that instead of moaning like a little boy about not having the latest toy, get the sdk and start learning how to make a jail break and program to run it on all versions of windows and osx, with out bricking every IOS device. If can't be that hard can it? With pangu releasing it just after 8.1 was out. I've used jailbreaks for years on the 2g all the way upto 8.1 but I'm still no closer to understand how they do it. I thank and take my hat off to every one who is involved, I just which I had upgraded on Saturday to the 6 instead of Monday cos then I'd have a jailbreak on my 6 now, and I don't even care if I have to wait till ios 9. I don't have apple products for the jailbreak I have apple products cos they are a high quality item, the jail break makes them more fun. JollySonX.

Dude, all I'm saying is these teasers always come out and never once actually release until Pangu did. And now they release another teaser of 8.1.1. Whatever man! Plus I don't care about 8.1.1 because it's a minor fix. I like my 8.1 Pangu jailbreak. Who said Apple stopped signing 8.1? As of now 8.1 is still signed because I did it last night. I only take my hat off to those who stick with their words, not just a teaser.

It's awfully nice of Apple to leave so many gaping holes in their OS for hackers (and the NSAI) to do what they will. Say what you will about this latest attempt, they got it working within days of the latest release. Now you just have to give them time to perfect it for the other devices. And seeing as most of us just jailbroke out devices, I'd say they've got plenty of time.

Maybe just wait till iOS 8.2 comes out...I'm glad someone's doing something. JB on iOS 8.1 and happy :-)

The elegance with Pangu's 2 jailbreaks is that the single jailbreak works on all devices. As long as iH8Sn0w and XanderKitteh's jailbreak does not work on some IOS devices, it's not a complete jailbreak in principle. And there is nothing to show off. So just keep hard work.
