Apple is rumored to be working on a new 4-inch model of the iPhone for release in 2015. The report comes from Asian supply chain sources and is relayed by G for Games.
Apparently the device could debut in the second half of 2015, bringing back one-hand usage and targeting female users.
Analyst have already predicted that Apple will eventually discontinue the iPhone 5c and iPhone 4S models to streamline its product offerings. Apple is also expected to unveil new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch devices next year, moving the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to mid-tier offerings and the iPhone 5s to the bottom of its lineup.
One interesting option would be for Apple to release a iPhone 6s with a 4-inch display option and keep the iPhone 5s as its cheaper offering.

After years of loving my iPhones and iOS I finally decided today to throw in the towel and jump to the competition. Apple has gotten off track, more focused on style than usability and stability now. iOS 8 has been a terrible experience. Siri & Maps are still beta products years after their hyped introductions. Taking an open mind and looking at other phones it's clear iPhone is trailing, no longer leading the pack. iOS 8 is the Vista of the iPhone. I'm sorry, iPhone. Thank goodness OS X has survived intact so far.

I still cared for my iPhone to this day after the success it truly is and has bought to us. Apple has stayed on the same track like jd power mentioned. No matter what Apple focused on, it doesn't make the performance any difference other than being sluggish free. Ios 8 has the brightest experience of any past iOS versions by far. Biggest release ever as said. Siri and maps are officially announced what was mentioned that went out of beta and officially releasing new things. Thinking outside the box and comparing the competition proves how iphone continues to grow and market and continues to be in the family of success. Ios 8 is the Yosemite of iphone. Thank you iphone 6. Survived as much as the Mac and OS X.

am I the only one who thinks they may keep the idea of having the power button in the side. I will not upgrade to the next generation of the 4" if they keep the power button there.

I hope they make a 6" IPhone for even the 6 plus is too small for me. iPad mini size would be too big but 6" would be soooo perfect...

Steve Jobs had it spot on when he sized the iPhone 4 & 4S models. Fits your hand nicely, and can put in your pocket. You can operate the screen and hold the phone all in one hand, unlike the tablet sized phones, that are out now. It's like a Porsche 911, you can always fine tune it over time with newer materials and tech, but the basic design is timeless. The larger screen phones are heading in the wrong direction, returning to 70's sized style. A tablet is nice in the comfort of your home and such, but the compact portability is the whole idea of what a cell phone should be. Maybe revamping the 4S size with iPhone 6 or 7 features and materials will get apple back on track, leading by example, not following the crowd. A wheel will always be round, you can make it better with new materials over time, but the original design is timeless perfection.

Though this was all bad? Curved screen phones are an all time low of reverting to old school but make no sense whatsoever. Why is lg, Google, Samsung, and many others making something we got rid of for a long time? Even curved tv's are back! Just why?

Jumped yesterday from a 5 to the 5s because I don't want/need bigger screen size. Would have waited if I had read this article yesterday. I hope they go back to offering the 4" size. I'll definitely buy one.

Sure, this is the case why I didn't buy the new iPhone and never will this size. I hate the bigger screen than 4 inch.

I told my friends last year that even though I was dying to have a bigger iphone, I still have the need to switch back to my iphone 5 once in a while, especially on the weekend when I was out and about. I think Apple should not abandon 4" iphone market because not only that there's till a market for it, but also they're one of a few, if not the only one, that still makes 4" phone.

That's really a good news ... I am still using a 5s because it is a perfect size to hold in my hands. I would love to change my 64GB To 128GB but it's really big and slipping from your hands. Hope the 6s will be THE ONE.

Yes! I'm still rocking a 4s because iPhone 5c and 5s to me was to feminine looking and I love how I can just shove my 4s in my pockets and it's gone almost forgets it there until it vibrates or ring big screens are for media driven consumers I'm not media driven. So yes I applaud this move once it's not build out of plastic urrrrrrrgh!!!! IPHONE ROCKS! Simplicity rocks! It just works rock!

I hope they do. I love my 5s and think that the 4.7" iPhone 6 is too big.

replacing the 5c I guess - December 5, 2014 at 3:17am
Rumor is, they're dropping the 5c, so maybe this will be the replacement. I personally think that the 4.7inch version is the perfect size for a phone( I've owned 2 nexus 4's which are 4.7inch) and it's the perfect size, only problem was android on it, I prefer ios so I will be getting a 6 I already own a note 3 so I can't take another overly huge phone. I guess if this version actually happens it will be the 6c maybe.

5c was made to satisfy people to pay cheaper phone models for once even if they liked the idea of plastic phones. 6c would just bring it to the price how how new iPhone are priced so it won't make it any different.

this will settle the best upgrade yet. After all he work trying to push sapphire displays, it's now or never which there will be a chance this time 6s will come with it, but also be much more improved if upgrading from the 5s, 5, and so forth from any previous generation. This will be another big hit in iphone sales if sapphire will be in it.

If it was rugged enough not to shatter at the slightest drop without a case, the small size would be great! A really small phone that isn't so cumbersome to keep on your person all the time makes sense, we don't all need a media-center chained to us.

This would be good for people who really dont want bigger screen sizes and wants one hand operation back. Another thing to look forward next year. 6 and 6 are just way too big for me to buy.

I guess Apple heard from zdnet of what's right and wrong with iphone 6 and 6 plus and this is one of the 3 things mentioned that was wrong with it. This picture was used to in that review as well.

It would be awesome if Apple releases a new next generation 4" iPhone.. Not being a fan of big screen phones, I would give a thumbs up if that be a reality..!!!

Dont mention CHEAPER! Always media mentioned "Cheaper" people were disappointed. There are no CHEAP goods from APPLE, if you want cheap, buy ANDROID, or WP those are cheap.
