Apple has updated its App Store Review Guidelines to indicate that it will reject Apple Watch apps whose primary function is telling time.

10.7 - Watch Apps whose primary function is telling time will be rejected

Currently, Apple doesn't allow third-party watch faces but that may change in the future. You can however customize the pre-installed watch faces.

Mighty strange restriction for apps running on what appears to be intended as a wristwatch...otherwise known as a timepiece you wear on your wrist..and whose primary purpose despite anything else it can do is to tell time.

or this work of art is beyond app garbage limits the watch can hold.

Exactly! Well said. I found hundreds of choices Apple watch was designed for.

Apple built it and gets to choose what they want to allow or not allow. It's their right and I don't think it will hinder any forward thinking.

Simply put, if it confuses Grandma and she has to go to the Apple Store or call AppleCare for support, it costs them time and money to clarify the difference between a built in app versus an app that they downloaded (or somebody downloaded for them). Multiply that by the number of users like Grandma who can't tell the difference and support will end up being a nightmare for Apple. Can't blame them because most of the apps that replicate functionality on Android usually end up stealing personal info anyway. I do hope that they allow custom faces, but I'm with Apple on replicating the clock app.

Why not? Apple is really starting to frustrate me and I know I'm not the only one. It wouldn't change anything and I already got my Apple Watch on Friday and I'll make my own watch faces. Even here Apple is making choices for us; where are the good old days when Apple actually cared about their customers and less about the money? The truth is if I knew then what I know now I would have never started with Apple in the first place, but once they got you it's over.

Like restricting apps that involve the watches job is a big deal. Hence we can save space, but Apple still does care about customers, pricing products like this makes sense for how strong and durable it is. Jobs or not changes nothing.
