Watch a 16GB iPhone 6 Get Upgraded to 128GB for $60 [Video]

Posted February 3, 2016 at 6:23pm by iClarified
Check out this video of a 16GB iPhone getting upgraded to a 128GB for just $60 at the Shenzhen market in China.

BeSound posted the video detailing the process to YouTube earlier today.

BeSound is teaming up with Beep to unveil the cheapest Apple iPhone storage space upgrade that is buzzing in Shenzhen, China. We hand over a 16G iPhone 6 to a 'genius' at Huaqiang Bei to experience the upgrade first handedly.

Apple charges $100 USD to move up to a 64GB model from the 16GB model and another $100 USD to get to the 128GB model which many feel is overpriced as the company's cost is nowhere near $200.

Take a look at the video below. Would you consider doing this upgrade?

Apple is bricking iPhones that are repaired by third parties ! This seems to bypass it but there is a possibility it can be detected

I once got involved with repair service. My iPhone came out just fine looking brand new minus the scratches I had on it.

That tells you that apple is a complete ripp-off.

Maybe their way costs more because it's quicker, unused, and easy to get. If it's a rip off though, consider the extra cost with tools you need to do it cheaply. Think about it. Also, T-Mobile gives a discount on that model but you can also wait for price drop after a year or 2, then eventually it's free!

Two weeks later they'll show up at Apple "Hi my iPhone won't turn on". Transferring his serial does not mean crap. When you input that serial into apples system it will still show up as a 16gb.

Wow, maybe we can create a 1TB-iPhone in the near future!

Nope, they are taking the memory chips out of already existing phones, and since Apple only makes 128gb chips, there's no possible way that it'll be 1tb

Didnt catch it... Why the phone on the left is white and the one on the right is black?
stevenlacross
stevenlacross - February 3, 2016 at 7:39pm
I just figured it out, the white phone is the donar phone that originally had the 128gb in it. So technically they are buying the 128gb chip, probably iCloud locked phones or reported lost/stolen, and then swapping the memory chips out of them and then basically using the donor phone as parts to fix other phones

I wonder if they can upgrade the processor and/or RAM? That would be fantastic!

The ram is in the chip which isn't held with screws and taking it apart isn't possible without rigging the logic board.

Oh, my bad I missed the details. Chip with ram in it, except the video is not about that! There better?

You will have to buy a 128gb iPhone 6 to be the donor phone to make the 16gb phone turn into 128gb and then the 128gb phone will be 16gb if you fully swap both chips

I'm glad I got the 128gb iPhone 6s for the price of the 16gb model thanks to tmobile! Unfortunately for this, you need the tools and expert level to pull all this off, but to find a place like this? What are the odds?
