Spotify is in Advanced Talks to Acquire SoundCloud [Report]

Spotify is in advanced talks to acquire SoundCloud, according to a new report from the Financial Times.

SoundCloud’s investors include Twitter, which invested in the online music platform this summer to encourage more social media influencers to use the messaging site, write Matthew Garrahan and Madhumita Murgia in London and James Fontanella-Khan in New York.


Spotify has 40 million paying subscribers; whereas, the newer Apple Music is at 17 million. SoundCloud also has a paid streaming service but it just launched in March.
