Check out this hands on video with an iPhone 8 dummy model. The device was provided to YouTuber Marques Brownlee by Sonny Dickson.

Dummy models like this one are often created by case manufacturers based on supply chain leaks. The device features an edge-to-edge display, notched bezel, glass back, vertically oriented dual lens camera, and more.

Well I honestly prefer the traditional finger Touch ID. Facial recognition would be a second option but I don't think it is reasonable for them to totally remove Touch ID in the next iPhone. What if it gets difficult trying to recognize your face at night or while in a club? It sounds crazy holding your phone close to your face in order for it to unlock. Anyone could easily use a picture of you to unlock it. Finger ID is the best option here.

What if Apple make facial recognition so good that it can easily detect a facial expression? When you set it up you could add an expression, and then when you try to unlock the phone you do that expression to authenticate (like a smile or a wink).

Not having TouchID is a way bigger issue than Apple will let on. Facial recognition is not at all secure. There are many ways to overcome it. As an example, what if police confiscate a phone from someone and then just hold it up to a suspects face? The same could be done by a would be mugger or thief. A so called "not a cheap phone" that is lacking features sounds right inside Apples wheelhouse though so...

I disagree with that example. Police or anyone could force you to use TouchID; some suggest even physical means could be used to obtain a fingerprint. Every system has risks.

How would Facial Recognition work in the dark, such as in bed or a dark club? It seems unwise to remove TouchID. Face registration with TouchID would have been a good addition, not a total replacement.
